Sniff Walks

More stimulating and enriching walks for your dog

Sharon is a miracle worker! When visiting Butternut Box offices she taught one of our puppies how to ‘down’ in about 5 seconds Hannah and Reya
Great training We really enjoyed it and Sunny has come on leaps and bounds in just a couple of days Jane and Sunny
Excellent! Sharon was great – as good at training me as at training Asta, and the Training Notes are fun to read. Elizabeth and Asta
Definitely booking more Lessons! I couldn’t have asked for someone more knowledgeable about dogs and also very good with transferring knowledge over to humans. L Bauer and Leia
Sharon’s can do attitude has given us the confidence boost we needed. A lovely friendly woman, full of excellent advice, who we could honestly share our insecurities with over our new little terror of a Parson Terrier. Vivien and Tippi
Great value for money Sharon was great… Definitely helped with the training of our puppy. Thank you for all your help guys! Adene and Ozzy

A 10 minute Sniff Walk will tire your dog out just as much as 30 minutes of fast-walking alone.

Sniff Walks should make up the majority of your dog’s walks. It’s a walk where they get to choose the direction to go, the speed they go, what they can sniff, when they sniff it, and for how long. After all, you’re walking the dog for his benefit, right? And a walk isn’t all about the physical exercise, your dog needs mental stimulation as well.

Smell is your dog’s dominant sense, and they pick up so much information from sniffing where other dogs have peed, or even just walked. The mental stimulation of allowing your dog to sniff will tire them out just as much as physical exercise, if not moreso. And this is so rewarding for dogs, it’s the equivalent of social media for us – picking up all the news of the area.

How does it work?

  • Only one dog per session.
  • These masterclasses are designed for puppies and adult dogs who have already started having walks. If you haven’t started walking your pup yet, take a look at Puppy’s First Walk.
  • If your dog does not walk well on the lead we would advise booking the Loose Lead Walking class prior to this one.
  • The trainer will come to your home or office, and training will start indoors, unless otherwise arranged.
  • All dogs will be walked on a harness, and a fixed length lead. If you do not have either of these, your trainer will provide them for the class. For safety reasons, and the well-being of your dog, we will not walk a dog on a collar, or an extendable lead.
